Microsoft decides to take down Spam Bots like Waladec
The word ‘Spam’ reminds us of a special folder in our Mailbox. It will be full of mails with subject line ‘Nigerian Million Dollar Lottery’, ‘Claim Million Dollar Property’ etc. Spam mails are usually sent with an intention of gaining financial information of an individual.
Most of the spam mails are sent via Botnet, a network of compromised computers controlled by Bot Masters.
Initially, Bot Master will scan for security flaw in user’s computer, install malicious software’s and then use it to spread more malicious contents or send spam mails.
Microsoft has decided to put an end to Botnet’s that spread Virus, Trojan and Worms, with its “Operation b49” specially intended to destroy Waledac Botnet.
Nearly 277 Internet domains are associated with Waledac Botnet and 651 million spam emails were directed to Hotmail accounts.
U.S. District Court has decided to cut off these domains and you can expect huge reductions in spam mails residing in your Mailbox.
