Apple iPhone 3GS Price in India?

The next generation iPhone 3GS is now catching up the mobile market with its remarkable performance and attractive prices.

For US market iPhone 3GS is price tagged as $199 for 16GB and $299 for 32GB. After the disappointing price of earlier version iPhone, we cannot expect this price in India. The iPhone 3GS is loaded with lot of new features and Apple claims that iPhone 3GS is “The fastest, most powerful iPhone yet”.

iPhone 3GS Features:

1. The ‘S’ in iPhone 3GS indicates ‘Speed’. The Data Transfer rate in iPhone 3GS in 2-3 times faster than its earlier version.

2. iPhone 3GS will able to transfer data at a maximum speed of 7.2 MBPS through HSDPA. HSDPA is short form for High-Speed Downlink Packet Access; it is a new protocol for mobile telephone data transmission. This standard will remove any limitations on the download of data on your phone by a slow connection.

3. iPhone 3GS has got camera with 3 Mega Pixel Auto Focus lens and will support video recording at 30 frames per second.

4. Movies and Games which require high graphics quality will work fine in iPhone 3GS due to the OpenGL ES 2.0 standard.

5. iPhone 3GS has certain features which will be of great use to people with hearing and visual disabilities. For example, VoiceOver will help visually impaired users to set commands to make calls, hear emails and read web pages. And in case of users with hearing loss in one ear, the mono audio will combine voice into single channels.

6. The batter life has been improved when compared to previous model, with capacity to deliver 5 hours of talk time and 9.5 hours of internet.

7. iPhone 3GS is compatible with new web standards like HTML 5.

8. iPhone 3GS has also got a new processor which will render webpages 2 times faster than the previous generation. And it also consumes less power, which will in turn improve the battery life.

9. iPhone includes Nike plus ipod support, making it a great tool of work-out. And a built-in compass for easier navigation.

As the Palm Inc launched Palm Pre mobile phone, Apple Inc has reduced the price of 8GB iPhone 3G to $99. In Indian Rupee it is around Rs 5000. This does not mean that even in India we will get it at such a low price.

In India iPhone is not subsidize by Airtel or Vodafone. The call rate, SMS cost is very low. Hence, it will be difficult for the Service providers to recover the subsidized amount, whereas in United States and few other countries they have high fixed call charges. As a result, they are able to subsidize the handsets.

The next generation iPhone 3GS is already launched in US. For other countries including India, launch is on 9th August 2009. In India the iPhone 3GS will be available in Airtel and Vodafone retails and the price of 3GS is about Rs. 32000 for 16GB and Rs. 39000 for 32GB.
