Create a Custom Sidebar with SideSlide
SideSlide is a free desktop program similar to Windows Vista Sidebar with RSS Readers, Notepad, Reminders, and Desktop Shortcuts in one single interface. Instead of adding too many shortcuts to desktop, users can add custom shortcuts and hide it with SideSlide. This will save lots of screen space and keep your desktop cleaner.
With SideSlide you can get Feed of your favorite website, Add photos, Create text files using notepad and Set reminders. All these applications are available within containers, which could be minimized when not in use.

To create your own Container, right click on the plain surface of SideSlide and select option which says ‘Container’. A container can contain Web URL, Directory shortcuts, System commands and File shortcuts. You can also add custom colors to containers.
To add a shortcut from desktop to SideSlide just click and drag the icon into the SideSlide interface. If you want to get out of the SideSlide application, just click on the desktop, the SideSlide application will vanish immediately.
You can customize your SideSlide interface by adding wallpapers and icons available with the software. SideSlide is a free program and is available for Windows XP, 2000 and Vista. SideSlide is portable and can be used from USB Drive.
