ACi Announces Ultra-Mini Laptop for Rs.14,999
ACi – Allied Computers International-Asia a company known for delivering low-cost laptops in India, is all set to release a 7-inch Mini laptop based on VIA Ultra-low voltage CPU. This diary-sized ACi ultra-mini laptop weighs in 950g and has a slim 7-inch widescreen form factor. The launch price of Rs.14, 999/- is expected to attract a lot of buyers in favor of this product.

The specification of the ACi Ultra-mini laptop are:
• 7-inch LCD screen
• VIA 1.0 GHz ULV Processor
• 512MB Memory
• 40GB HDD
• WiFi & Bluetooth
• Webcam
• No Optical Drive
ACi has planned a couple of models for the Ultra-mini series PCs. The higher end models are also expected to feature touch screen, 2GB RAM and near 12-hour battery life by trapping solar energy. We’ll wait and see how that goes.
ACi also plans to launch LCDs and Plasma television in the first quarter of the next fiscal at a price range that is 40% less than those of multi-national brands. The 32-inch LCD TV would be available at Rs. 24,999/-. ACi’s LCD TV models would come in the sizes of 27, 32, 37, 40 and 50-inch diagonally. The 50-inch Plasma TV from ACi is expected to cost as low as Rs 50,000/-
According to reports, ACi will also be setting up an assembly plant for laptops in North India.

Every thing is great with the price that Aci has lauched but it lacks a optical drive . Is there any model that is available with the above configuration with optical drive would be a better option. Can this be talior made for the customer with an inbuilt optical drive. Or any model is hitting the market.

i called up the ACi office in Mumbai, they gave the delhi office phone so i called em up n asked for the probable date of the launch of the laptop and the gentle man said some time next month. So well Delhi has to wait for a month and a half..

Poor show by the company. The laptop was officially launched in Feb 2008 this year and it was just a media hype and a publicity stunt. This laptop is nowhere to be seen in the market and even the company doesnt know when will it arrive(after taking to their customer support).
I guess that the company is waiting for prices of the components to come down so they can actully produce this at 14990/-
